Ash Wednesday is the first day of the penitential Lenten Season. We are reminded of our mortality and profess our devotion to God the imposition of ashes.
This unique interfaith event explores the rich history of chant and the recitation of Sacred Scriptures across four faith traditions: Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. After a brief introduction to the chanting practices of each tradition, representatives will offer live examples. Experience Tibetan Buddhist multiphonic chanting, a Gregorian chant ensemble, a recitation from the Qur’an, and a cantor chanting from the Hebrew Bible.
