Volunteer Opportunities at St. David's this September!
St. David's offers many opportunities for members to get involved in service and the life of the church. Serving in Ministry ensures everyone has a place at the table and builds relationships within the community. Below is a list of St. David's ministries that have current needs and volunteer opportunities.
Some ministries are suitable for individuals, some for teams, and some might even work for a whole family. Sometimes the best thing about serving is creating relationships with those you serve and those you serve with!
We hope you will find something that makes your heart sing.
Six Mercies
Six Mercies is a St. David's community outreach ministry which has served our neighbors for 12 years. The Six Mercies Ministry is staffed in pairs and greets our neighbors who are in need of assistance at the Church on Mondays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers sign up for a 2-hour shift every 4 to 6 weeks. Please email Jan Georges if you have any questions.
Blood Drive - Sunday, October 8, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
God loves a Blood Donor. The LifeSouth bloodmobile will be at St. David's on October 8. Blood is a precious and scarce resource, a single unit of blood can save 3 lives. Hospitals are always in short supply of this crucial asset. Be a Better Neighbor and help save a life. Sign ups are in the Church Hallway.
Trunk or Treat Planning Committee
St. David's is building a leadership team for Trunk or Treat in partnership with the Be A Better Neighbor and Children's Ministries. In addition to decorating a car trunk, will you consider expanding your participation to include a role in the event planning or support on the event day? If yes, hooray! Please email Judy Hine, Director of Children's Ministries, with questions or to say, "Count(Dracula) me in!" Let's shine a brighter light together.
NFCC Juice Collection: 32 oz. and 64 oz. Sizes
Real Juice. Very little real juice is donated to the NFCC Food Pantry. When it is available, it is chosen very quickly. Apple Juice is the perennial favorite for children, but others (even V8 or tomato) are highly desired. We can always use juice boxes too, but they are more frequently donated than the 32 oz. or 64 oz. sizes. Just bring your donations to church and we'll take them to NFCC! As a reminder: please avoid glass containers!
Handbell Choir
St. David’s has been blessed for over thirty years with beautiful handbells, organized and directed by Eileen Nahser. We are looking to add some new faces to our group and introduce them to the joy and beauty of Handbells. Our bell choir rehearses 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings, in the handbell room (the end of the back hall) on the administrative level of Harrison Hall. There is great joy and fun in making music together. If you are new to handbells, you will enjoy learning and making music with our wonderful ringers. Please contact Sue Mitchell-Wallace to join this joyful group.
Greeters
Studies have shown first-time visitors to church make up their minds about whether they’re coming back in the first 10-15 minutes of their visit. The Welcome Ministry reflects the heart of our St. David’s community by making all who enter our doors feel that realtionships come first and that everyone has a place at the table. The time commitment is small…the rewards are great. We would love for you to join this ministry. Questions? Please contact Nicole Highsmith or Robert Malpeli.
Wedding Guild
Do you love a wedding? If so, would you be interested in volunteering for the St. David's Wedding Guild? The Wedding Guild is a ministry to assists the bride and groom, wedding party, and families at the wedding rehearsal and ceremony. No experience is needed. St. David's has an upcoming rehearsal (9/22) and wedding (9/23). If you would be interested in serving, please get in touch with Linda Puckett.
Altar Guild
Altar Guild needs members to serve after the 11:15 service. The time commitment would be 5-10 minutes of work once or twice a month. We are also seeking additional members to help with the 9:00 service. It's 10 minutes before and after the service once a month. Please help set God's table for all our worshipers to have a deeply spiritual experience receiving God's holy sacraments.
