Volunteer Opportunities at St. David's this April!

St. David's offers many opportunities for members to get involved in service and the life of the church. Serving in Ministry ensures everyone has a place at the table and builds relationships within the community. Below is a list of St. David's ministries that have current needs and volunteer opportunities.

We hope you find something that makes your heart sing!

Family Promise Rotational Shelter: Week of Sunday, April 21

St. David’s third Family Promise host week starts Sunday, April 21st. We will host three families experiencing homelessness at the Sinclair House for the week. We look forward to providing a comfortable home, nourishing meals, and caring company for these families that week. The host week takes a village, so please check out this sign-up link to see where you can help.

For any questions, please contact Claudia Zimmermann.

Greeters

Studies have shown first-time visitors to church make up their minds about whether they’re coming back in the first 10-15 minutes of their visit. The Welcome Ministry reflects the heart of our St. David’s community by making everyone who enters our doors feel that relationships come first and everyone has a place at the table. The time commitment is small…the rewards are great. We would love for you to join this ministry. Questions? Please contact Nicole Highsmith or Janet Haldeman.

April NFCC Pantry Collection, Single Servings –

To prepare a regular box of mac and cheese, you need a stove, a pot, milk, butter, and a bowl.  To prepare a CUP of mac and cheese, you only need water and a microwave!  Many NFCC clients live in circumstances that make the cup/microwave choice highly desirable.  Single serve sizes are also used in the NFCC Emergency Bags, which are filled every day, for homeless clients.

We are collecting:

  • Mac & Cheese Cups

  • Ramen-type noodle Cups

  • Single-serve pop-top soups

  • Cereal Cups

  • Vienna Sausages (or other single-serve canned meats)

Flower Guild

If you are interested in playing with flowers once a month or learning to arrange flowers, you are invited to join the flower guild.  You would be assigned to a team who will train you and work with you as you develop your skills.  No experience is necessary.

If you have questions or would like more information about the flower guild, reach out to Karen Marshall or Bess Allen.

Handbell Choir

St. David’s has been blessed with beautiful handbells organized and directed by Eileen Nahser for over thirty years. We are looking to add some new faces to our group and introduce them to the joy and beauty of Handbells. Our bell choir rehearses from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the handbell room (the end of the back hall) on the administrative level of Harrison Hall. There is great joy and fun in making music together. If you are new to handbells, you will enjoy learning and making music with our wonderful ringers. Please contact Sue Mitchell-Wallace to join this joyful group.

Digital Greeters

Did you know that most Visitors to St. David's visit first online? We are looking for folks to monitor the Youtube chat and welcome people to the livestream. Relationships come first at St. David's and we are called to meet people where they are.
