Frequently Asked Questions for
Families with Children

Children are a vital part of the life and ministry of St. David's Episcopal church. Through their presence, curiosity, joy, and unique gifts, children enrich the worshiping community and remind all members of God's love, grace, and hope.

01

Which service is best for children?

Children are warmly welcomed at all of our Sunday services. Many families find the 9:00 a.m. Family Service especially well-suited for young children. During this service, children are invited to participate in Children's Chapel following the opening prayer. They return to the church in time for Communion and are always welcome to receive Holy Communion or a blessing at the altar rail. We also offer Children's Chapel during our 1:15 p.m. Spanish-language service: Capilla para niños durante la misa, donde nuestros niños escuchan historias bíblicas y aprenden sobre el amor de Dios para todos.

02

Do you have a nursery?

Yes. Nursery care is available for infants through 3-year-olds during the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services, as well as during the Sunday School hour between services. Check-in begins at 8:45 a.m. Our experienced caregivers provide a safe, nurturing environment and follow the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta's Safeguarding God's Children guidelines. Nursery rooms are located in the main church building, just off the Preschool hallway: • St. Anne Room – Infants and toddlers (birth–24 months) • St. Elizabeth Room – Two- and three-year-olds Greeters at our Welcome Center and Ushers will be happy to show you where these rooms are located.

03

What happens during Children's Chapel?

Following the opening prayers, children ages 4 through 5th grade are invited to Children's Chapel. Led by trained youth and adult leaders, Children's Chapel includes prayer, Bible stories, crafts, and age-appropriate discussions in a welcoming environment where children can grow in faith and community. Children gather in age-based groups when possible and return to the church at the Peace to rejoin their families.

04

Where does Children's Chapel meet?

Children's Chapel meets in the classrooms on the lower level of Jeffords Fellowship Hall, located next to the church. Our greeters, ushers, and Welcome Desk volunteers are always happy to help your family find the correct location.

05

What is the children's table?

The Children's Table is located at the end of the main hallway and is available for families each Sunday. You'll find children's bulletins, picture books, coloring materials, and quiet fidget toys. Please feel free to use any of these resources during your visit.

06

What if we arrive late?

No problem. We know mornings can be busy, and we're simply glad you're here. Whether you arrive before the service begins or after it has started, our ushers and greeters will be happy to help your family get settled.

07

What is Safeguarding God's Children?

Safeguarding God's Children is a training program developed by the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta to help churches provide safe and healthy environments for children and youth. All clergy, staff, and volunteers who work with children or youth are required to complete this training before serving and must renew their certification every three years.
