Information

Modern Christians grow up hearing that someday the earth will be destroyed and God will take the righteous to heaven, a scenario that provides no foundation for a Christian ecological practice. The New Testament, in contrast, persistently describes God coming to dwell with us in a renewed heaven and earth, a vision that is consistent with the larger biblical story. This session will explore that biblical story and its implications for a Christian approach to our environmental crises.

Dr. Stan Saunders is Emeritus Professor of New Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary. Since retirement, he has begun work as a specialist in Restorative Justice. He is also working on a book about the story of creation in the New Testament.

We invite you to join us for this thought-provoking study of Creation Care and scripture. You may find Dr. Saunders's Bio here. (link to Bio: https://www.workingpreacher.org/authors/stanley-saunders)
