Vidrieras Parte 1 - Las ventanas redondas El siguiente es un extracto del libro,"Las ventanas de San David" , que se produjo como parte de la celebración del 50 aniversario de St. David's en 2006. En el capítulo 5 del Libro del Apocalipsis, el Cordero es llamado “digno de recibir poder, riqueza, sabiduría, fortaleza, honra, gloria y bendiciones”, y “capaz de abrir el rollo y sus siete sellos”. "El árbol de Jesé" Ubicación: En lo alto, lado izquierdo de la nave En lo alto de la pared izquierda de la nave se encuentra la pequeña vidriera redonda que representa uno de esos árboles de Jesé. Nos recuerda a doce personas de la Biblia (además de Isaí) que de diversas maneras anunciaron la venida del Mesías, el Cristo, el Ungido. En el centro de la ventana hay un árbol nudoso, “el tocón de Jesé; de sus raíces un Retoño dará fruto” (Isaías 11:1). Rut, cuya historia se cuenta en el libro de la Biblia que lleva su nombre, era una fiel viuda de Moab que acompañó a su suegra viuda de regreso a Israel (diciéndole a Noemí: “tu pueblo será mi pueblo, y tu Dios mi Dios”). Allí Ruth se volvió a casar y se convirtió en la abuela de Jesse. Su símbolo es la gavilla de trigo, porque recogió el grano dejado por los segadores en los campos cerca de Belén. Samuel, el último de los jueces de Israel (de ahí la balanza de la justicia como su símbolo) ungió a David, el hijo de Isaí, para suceder a Saúl como rey. David está representado por las cinco piedras lisas y la honda con la que mató a Goliat. Sería a Belén donde José llevó más tarde a su futura esposa María, “porque era de la casa y linaje de David”. Cada uno de los siete profetas del Antiguo Testamento enumerados en el vitral de la ventana proclamó la necesidad y la venida del Mesías. Elías (quien, junto con Moisés, está representado en la ventana de la Transfiguración con Jesús) está simbolizado con el carro en llamas en el que fue transportado al cielo (2 Reyes 2:11). El símbolo de Isaías se deriva de su visión de su boca siendo purificada por el serafín que lleva un carbón encendido con tenazas (Isaías 6:6-7). Jeremías está representado por tres piedras que figuran en su profecía de cómo un Israel desobediente sería hecho cautivo de Babilonia; la leyenda dice que su gente lo apedreó hasta la muerte por sus severos pronunciamientos. Posteriormente el profeta Ezequiel habló de la puerta este de la ciudad de Jerusalén por la cual el Mesías entraría a la ciudad (Ezequiel 44:1-3). Los profetas Oseas, Amós y Miqueas profetizaron en el siglo VIII antes del nacimiento de Jesús que el comportamiento del pueblo de Israel y Judá conduciría a la destrucción y el cautiverio y la necesidad del Mesías. Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Readers Lay Eucharistic Ministers assist by administering the chalice during Holy Communion. Readers participate by reading the appointed lessons and psalms and leading the Prayers of the People. Altar Guild The altar guild sets the table for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist (Communion). In addition, they remove all linens and vessels after the service and are responsible for their care. The altar guild is currently looking for new members. Please complete the form below for more information. Flower Guild Flowers are a sign of the resurrection and add beauty to the sanctuary. Parishioners have the opportunity to contribute them as memorials or as thanksgiving offerings. Members of the Flower Guild serve on a rotating basis to arrange the flowers in the church. If you have an interest in joining the Flower Guild, you are warmly invited to observe the process of creating the weekly floral arrangements. Dates are Saturdays 9/20 or 9/27, at 10:00 a.m. in the sacristy. Acolytes The acolyte ministry provides an opportunity for young people actively participate in a worship service and serve the Lord on a regular basis. Participation begins with 5th graders and runs through their senior year. Acolytes participate in processions by carrying torches and crosses. Experienced acolytes are considered “senior servers” and assist the priests during communion in addition to being the lead cross bearer during processions. Pew Crew The Pew Crew straightens the hymnals and prayer books in each pew. In addition, they restock all of the brochures and pens as needed in the pew racks. Vergers The Vergers lead processions into and during the service, assist with Communion and are available to the Clergy should anything be needed during the service. The Vergers are appointed by the Rector. Ushers The usher teams greet and welcome members and visitors, distribute service bulletins and assist in the seating of our worshippers while being attentive to those who are in wheelchairs or other mobile units. During Holy Communion ushers assist with traffic to and from the altar rail. Baptismal Banners Every child who is baptized at St. David’s receives a handcrafted banner with their name. The banners are crafted by a ministry comprised of dedicated parishioners. Wedding Guild This guild assists the wedding parties for weddings at St. David’s. They are present at the rehearsal and wedding ceremonies.

Cumpliendo Dos Call/Text NOW to schedule a tour In our Toddler Class, the focus is on the development of language and communication, gross and fine motor skills, learning through play, classroom routines, and social-emotional and early learning skills. Children enjoy daily free play, circle time, child-led art, sensory play, stories, songs, finger plays, and create “make and take” art projects. Little ones have Music and Movement class once a week and go outdoors on our toddler-friendly playground daily as weather permits. Classroom parents will provide a “nut-free” mid-morning snack for the whole class on a rotational basis. Children arrive at preschool with a tote bag with a change of clothing or diapers, and lunchbox filled with a light "nut-free" lunch and water bottle. **Children must be able to walk and stay awake during the school day. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held twice year. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to meet with the teachers and communicate questions or concerns throughout the year. This class meets three days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 am-1:00 pm. Class size is limited to ten students with two teachers, with flexibility based on classroom needs. Parents will walk the children to the playground or classroom at 9:30AM, weather dependent. Children will be also picked up from the playground or classroom at 1:00PM. We have several extra care options staffed by our teachers: Parent’s Morning Out are every Monday and Friday, daily Rooster Club Play Group from 8:30AM–9:30AM, and daily StayNPlay, from 1PM-2PM. Annual tuition is $3,390 and can be paid in 10 equal monthly payments of $339. August tuition is due July 5, 2026. Remaining 9 monthly payments begin in September and go through May 2027. New student registration fee of $145 (nonrefundable) is due at registration. Clero de San David The Rev. Remington Slone - Rector The Rev. Remington Slone is the Rector (Senior Pastor) of St. David's. He grew up in small-town south Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in History. After undergraduate studies, Remington attended the General Theological Seminary in New York City. Before his call as the Rector of St. David's in 2021, Remington served in various leadership ministries at St. Peter's in Savannah, GA and Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Remington loves music and outdoor sports (especially cycling). He's fond of word puzzles and chess, and will give all of that up when the Dawgs are playing. He's been married to Casey since 2007, and they are blessed with three amazing children: Madeleine, Clara, and Becket. They are likely to be the loud ones in the back of the church. The Rev. Chip Broadfoot, Associate Rector The Rev. Chip Broadfoot is the Associate Rector of St. David's. Chip has served at parishes in the diocese of Alabama, East Carolina, and Western North Carolina. He received his Master of Divinity from The School of Theology at Sewanee, TN. Chip has served at the diocesan level as Spiritual Director at many Cursillo and Happening retreats, summer camp Chaplaincies, the Board of diocesan camps, Director for Towel Ministry, the Commission on Ministry, the Diocesan Foundation, and the diocesan Executive Council. Chip has been married to his wife, Becky, since January of 1991. He loves fly fishing, hiking with his wife, playing Pickleball, hosting dinner parties, and they look forward to attending Braves baseball games. Chip and Becky have two adult daughters, Allie who lives in Atlanta, and Kaki and her husband Austin live in Jackson, WY. The Rev. Shannon Darke, Asst. Rector for Children, Youth, and Family Ministries The Rev. Shannon Darke serves as Assistant Rector for Family and Children’s Ministry at St. David’s. A graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Journalism and Mercer University with an MBA, Shannon spent nearly 30 years in brand marketing, strategic planning, and communications before answering a call to ordained ministry. She graduated from The General Theological Seminary in 2026 and was ordained to the priesthood that same year. Before joining St. David’s, Shannon served at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church in Marietta, Georgia, where she worked with children, youth, and families, helping them grow in faith through worship, formation, and community. Shannon is passionate about pastoral care, intergenerational ministry, and creating meaningful spaces where people of all ages can encounter God and grow together in faith. Shannon and her husband, Jim, live in Cumming, Georgia, and have four children. Shannon enjoys running, being out in nature and writing. She will happily talk theology, strategy, or Georgia football with equal enthusiasm. With four children ranging from teenagers to young adults, there is never a shortage of activity or stories to tell. The Rev. Mimi Guerra, Vicar for Hispanic Ministries Originally from Mexico, Mother Mimi moved to the United States in 1994. She has been an educator for 30 years. She was a Spanish teacher in Douglas County Schools. Rev. Mimi earned a BA in Spanish in 1989 from the University of Victoria. She earned a CPA from Kennesaw State University for Early Childhood Education in 2002. In the summer of 2017, she completed seminary at CETLA (Theological Education Center for Latinos) in the Diocese of Atlanta and earned her Pastoral Education CPE at TACC of San Lucas. in Atlanta. As a child, Rev. Mimi aspired to be a nun, but her father encouraged her to become a teacher. However, she never gave up on her dreams, and today she dedicates time to helping people build a closer relationship with God. As the Associate Rector at Christ Church form 2018-2023 she promoted the unity between families. In the last two years she was also an associate at St. Bede’s , and in 2022 she became the Hispanic Missioner in the Diocese of Atlanta. During this time she opened two new Hispanic missions and she dedicate time to attract people to our Episcopal churches. The Rev. Mimi is the proud mother of a son Henry Hunt “Junior” with whom she has fun watching “Justice League” and “Avengers” movies. Mimi loves writing, singing, but most of all helping those in need. Discipleship Groups St. David's has several discipleship building organizations; Education for Minsitry, Daughters of the King, and Brotherhood of St. Andrew. These three programs ask for a long term committment and are dedicated to growing disciples dedicated to prayer, spreading the gospel, and service. Education for Ministry Mondays Beginning in September 6:00 p.m. Bethany Room EfM is an adult, Christian, distance learning education program of the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. This four-year program is a dynamic blend of Bible study, church history, theology, worship, prayer, and theological reflection. There are openings for two first-year students this Fall. Daughters of the King Meets monthly on Saturday Mornings 10:30 a.m. Grace Hall The Order of the Daughters of the King was founded by the Episcopal Church in 1885 to be an extension of Christ’s kingdom through prayer, service and evangelism. Daughters of the King, in a lifetime vow, pledge to undertake a spiritual discipline that incorporates a Rule of Life through the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. St. David's Daughters of the King, Grace Chapter offers Discernment Classes, Half Day Retreats at Advent and Lent, and publishes prayers at regular intervals for the parish. A member of our Welcome Ministry will be happy to answer questions, provide directions, and help you get connected. If you have not yet completed an online Welcome (Visitor) Card, our volunteers can provide a paper copy and submit it to the church office on your behalf. We look forward to welcoming you and helping you feel at home at St. David’s. 02 Where should I park? Parking is available in several convenient locations around campus: on the west side of the church adjacent to the main church entrance, on the north side of the church located behind the playground and Jeffords Fellowship Hall. Additional parking is available at Mimosa Elementary School on Warsaw Road, with stairs that lead from the back of that parking lot onto the church campus. Handicapped parking is available in each of the church parking lots with additional space in front of Jeffords Hall on the curved driveway. Please note that parking is not permitted in the fire lane located on the far right side of the Jeffords Fellowship Hall entrance from Old Roswell Road. The area is clearly marked with a red curb. 03 Are there Sunday School classes for children and adults? Yes. Sunday School and Christian formation opportunities are offered for children, youth, and adults each Sunday from 10:15–11:00 a.m., between the 9:00 a.m. Family Service and the 11:15 a.m. Service. Current class offerings and locations are listed in the Sunday bulletin. If you need assistance finding a classroom, please ask an usher or stop by the Welcome Center. 04 How does Communion work? The Holy Eucharist culminates in Communion, a shared meal of bread and wine in remembrance of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. When it is time for Communion, an usher will guide you to the altar rail. You may stand or kneel, according to your comfort and preference. When receiving Communion, most worshipers hold out their hands with open palms. A minister will come to you and place the bread in your hand. You may: • Consume the bread immediately. • Dip the bread into the wine (intinction). • Receive wine directly from the chalice. What if I don't want to receive Communion? You are always welcome to come forward for a blessing instead. Simply cross your arms over your chest in the shape of an "X," and a minister will offer a prayer of blessing. Who may receive Communion? All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Communion in the Episcopal Church. If you are not baptized or prefer not to receive Communion, you are warmly invited to come forward for a blessing. 05 How big is St. David's? Adult Learning Events St. David's has several adult learning events throughout the year that are perfect for someone who wants to disconnect from their regular routine for a while and immerse themselves into a spiritual enviornment. Men's Retreat May 3-5, 2025 Unicoi State Park Our last retreat was May, 2025, on Spiritual Renewal and Christian Fellowship led by The Reverend Dr. Jim Shumard, priest in charge, St. James, Clayton. He lead our discussion titled, “FIFTY SHADES OF LIVING COLOR: Exploring the multi-verse of scripture”. Typically, the retreats start on Friday at Noon, with optional golf, fishing, hiking, and biking. The formal program begins on Saturday morning. You can easily drive up on Saturday morning from the Atlanta metro – it’s about 1.5 hour drive. The program ends on Sunday morning, with the program wrap-up and a worship service with Holy Communion. Children are warmly welcomed at all of our Sunday services. Many families find the 9:00 a.m. Family Service especially well-suited for young children. During this service, children are invited to participate in Children's Chapel following the opening prayer. They return to the church in time for Communion and are always welcome to receive Holy Communion or a blessing at the altar rail. The Children's Table is located at the end of the main hallway and is available for families each Sunday. You'll find children's bulletins, picture books, coloring materials, and quiet fidget toys.
