Frequently Asked Questions for
Families with Youth

Whether your family is new to St. David's or exploring church for the first time, we want your youth to feel welcomed, included, and supported from the moment they arrive. During these formative years, young people are developing their identities, exploring their beliefs, and seeking meaningful relationships. The Church has the privilege of walking alongside them, offering a welcoming community where they are known, valued, and encouraged to grow in their relationship with God.

01

Is there Sunday School for Youth?

Yes. St. David's offers Sunday School each Sunday morning at 10:15-11:00 a.m. Throughout the year, middle and high school students are invited to participate in a variety of Christian formation opportunities, including special diocesan-wide events designed to deepen faith, build friendships, and encourage spiritual growth. Youth are encouraged to explore their faith, ask questions, build friendships, and grow in community in an engaging and welcoming environment. Current classes, meeting locations, and schedules are available in the Sunday bulletin and on our website.

02

Does St. David's have a Youth Group?

Absolutely. Our youth group, EYC (Episcopal Youth Community), is a place where students can build friendships, have fun, serve others, and grow in their faith. EYC gatherings may include games and fellowship, faith discussions and Bible study, service projects, retreats and special events, seasonal celebrations and activities. EYC typically meets one Sunday evening each month, with gatherings focused on fellowship, fun, and outreach. For upcoming events and schedules, visit our Youth Ministry page. Youth are always welcome—and encouraged—to invite friends.

03

Where does EYC meet?

EYC gatherings are held at the Sinclair House, on the corner of Old Roswell and Old Forge Roads. Drop-off begins at 4:45 p.m. Pick-up is at 6:00 p.m. for youth who are not driving themselves.

04

What events are available throughout the year?

Youth Ministry is active year-round, with opportunities for fellowship, service, learning, and spiritual growth. Programs and events may include: • Vacation Bible School (VBS) leadership opportunities • Service projects and outreach activities • Fellowship events and social gatherings • Retreats and special programs • Fall kick-off celebrations • Seasonal events and parish-wide activities Families can stay connected through church emails, newsletters, social media, and the the Youth page on the church website, www.stdavidchurch.org/youth-ministry.

05

Does my youth need to register?

First-time visitors are always welcome. For ongoing participation in youth programs and events, families will be asked to complete a Youth Ministry Registration Form found on the youth page of this website (www.stdavidchurch.org/youth-ministry). This helps us maintain accurate emergency contact information and provide the safest possible environment for all participants.

06

How will I know my youth Is safe?

The safety and well-being of every child and youth is a top priority at St. David's. We are committed to providing a safe, caring, and supportive environment through: • Trained clergy, staff, and volunteers • Multiple adult leaders present at youth activities • Safe Church policies and procedures • Supervised programs and events • A culture of respect, inclusion, and belonging We want both youth and parents to feel confident and supported in every aspect of our ministry.

07

What is Safeguarding God's Children?

Safeguarding God's Children is a training program developed by the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta to help churches provide safe and healthy environments for children and youth. The program equips participants with the knowledge and tools needed to recognize risks, maintain healthy boundaries, and protect the well-being of those in their care. All clergy, staff, and volunteers who work with children or youth are required to complete this training before serving and must renew their certification every three years.

08
