Dear St. David’s Parishioners,
During the last nine months, we have put our trust and faith in Christ during this journey to find a new Rector to lead our parish. Finding the right candidate to serve as the 6th Rector in the history of our church is a great privilege and responsibility. During this process, the nominating committee has successfully completed a parish profile, posted the position, and reviewed a strong slate of candidates. The COVID-19 pandemic created extraordinary circumstances that have forced us to pause our search. At this point in time, we cannot visit our candidates in their current parishes or have them visit St. David’s. In-person interviews are critical to the selection process of finding the absolute right candidates.
The nominating committee has recommended, and the vestry has approved the continued suspension of our search until August. In making this decision we have consulted with George Maxwell, our Diocesan search consultant as well as the Bishop, Rob Wright, and Alicia Schuster-Weltner, Chief Operating Officer and Canon to the Ordinary.
The nominating committee will meet in August and reassess the circumstances at that time and determine how best to proceed, including making a decision to re-open the application process. We will also continue to stay in close contact with our current applicants.
We are truly blessed to have Father Dean as our Interim Rector and he has committed to staying with our parish for an extended period of time. The entire clergy and staff of St. David’s have worked so hard to continue to provide ways to stay engaged and connected as a community of faith.
We ask for your prayers and continued commitment to our wonderful parish and lay leaders. Together we can continue to spread the joy, peace, and love of St. David’s near and far, especially during this difficult time for so many.
