Yes, kids just got out of school. They are not thinking about the fall. But we are. St. David's participation in the North Fulton Community Charities backpack drive has been a tremendous help. We're gearing up for July.
This year, our focus is on high school students. Our goal is to produce 18 fully stocked backpacks to deliver to NFCC. The items and quantities are very specific. The youth group at St. David's has volunteered to do the sorting. Essentially helping their peer group. Recipe for Success:

St. David's is happy to announce that we are able to return to Honduras for a building mission trip!
There is a trip being scheduled for Friday, June 17, through Saturday, June 25, by the Church of the Holy Spirit and we have been invited to join. John McKinnon from St. David's and Amy Hill from St. Aidan's will be part of the adult contingent. This trip is open to rising eighth-graders through adults. Adult missioners who cannot manage building activities will have other options. If you are interested in attending or have questions, please contact Bill Sleeper or the church office. A final commitment is needed by the end of April. Clean Start for the New Year Most of us worry more about having time to do the laundry than about having detergent to use, but that is not true for everyone around us. One highly sought- but seldom donated item at the North Fulton Community Charities' Food Pantry is laundry detergent. Let’s help! Please bring POWDERED laundry detergent to church and leave it in the mailbox hallway. Our young people will divide it all up into smaller, labelled baggies for the Pantry. We made 200 bags last time. Let’s outdo ourselves this year! PLUS, Fruit for February As fast as we put peaches, pears, and pineapple, etc. on shelves, they fly out the door to a family in need. Please consider adding a can or two of fruit to your grocery cart each time you shop in February. Drop your cans in the Blue Bin in the mailbox hallway and they will find their way to the Pantry! General Food Pantry Word to the Wise: Please avoid glass containers. Too many opportunities for breakage. Both items needed for February. Join the St. David’s Hunger Walk Team!
March 6th is the 38th annual Hunger Walk/Run in Atlanta! This event is put on by the Atlanta Community Food bank and is aimed to raise awareness and funds for local hunger relief. Proceeds from this event benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank, as well as other nonprofit organizations that help fight food insecurity in the local community, including the Episcopal Community Foundation! For many years, St. David’s has sent a team to participate in the Hunger Walk/Run, and this year we are excited to take part again! To register, please CLICK HERE and select “Join a Team”. Select the “St. David’s” team, and you can complete the registration process from there. The walk will start at The Home Depot Backyard (1 Backyard Way, Atlanta, GA 30313). If you chose to join the team, more information will be sent out to the team once it is created. The hunger walk is a wonderful event and a great chance to make a difference in our greater Atlanta community, so please consider joining us! If you have any questions about the Hunger Walk/Run, or about how to register, please reach out to Grace Horn, Director of Youth Ministries. |
