Honduras, Lamb Institute, Mission Trip Opportunity July 2026! Opportunity for a mission trip to the Lamb Institute in Honduras in July 2026. With guidance from the Diocese of Central Tanganyika, St. David’s decided to team with Solar Light for Africa to provide solar energy solution for Msalato Theological College in Dodoma, Africa. The Drake House provides short-term crisis housing, education, and empowerment programs for homeless mothers and their children in North Fulton County, designed to assist the family in working toward self-sufficiency. Episcopal Relief and Development is an international relief and development agency, and a compassionate response to human suffering on behalf of Episcopal Church dedicated to international relief and Development. It has been operating since 1940. Family Promise of North Fulton/Dekalb is an organization dedicated to helping families who are experiencing housing insecurity. St. David’s serves as a host congregation for three Family Promise families for a week at a time providing comfortable rooms, nourishing meals, and social support at the Sinclair House. It takes a lot of volunteers to make the weeks a success, and we’d love your help. Saint David’s is now partnering with Fully Furnished Ministries, which provides furniture to individuals transitioning out of homelessness through our partner ministries: Family Promise, Drake House, and Homestretch. They collect essential items—tables, chairs, living and bedroom furniture (including mattresses in good condition), linens, and basic kitchenware—for those starting over with little or nothing. Based in a Peachtree Corners warehouse, Fully Furnished Ministries receives, restores, and distributes donated furniture. To donate, visit fullyfurnishedministries.org and click “Donate Furniture.” Be sure to review accepted items, confirm your zip code is in their service area (30075 is now included), and note “Saint David’s – Roswell” on the donation form. Volunteers can also join Saturday morning delivery teams to help furnish homes, meet families, and take part in a brief house-blessing prayer. The Outreach and Mission Committee is pleased to announce the renewal of St. David’s partnership with HomeStretch, a local organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness. This renewed ministry will focus on being a good neighbor by helping meet several of HomeStretch’s volunteer needs. Opportunities to serve include, Financial Coaches, Family Mentors, Office Support, Fundraiser Assistance, and more. HomeStretch provides more than just temporary, low-cost housing—it offers families the tools they need to build a better future. Their mission is to empower families to acquire the resources, skills, and behavioral changes necessary to achieve and maintain economic independence. They offer a hand up, not just a handout. Honduras Mission Trips. The purpose of this ministry is to serve God by building relationships, physical structures, and being the Church in Honduras. This is accomplished through a longstanding and loving partnership with the Lamb Institute based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Mission trips are planned twice yearly along with a fundraiser. St. David's also supports a missionary, who has been serving LAMB Institute since 2011. St. David's has been partnering with North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) since its inception and founding. NFCC provides financial assistance, food, clothing, education and more to those in need. St. David’s provides financial assistance, as well as volunteers, to serve in the food pantry and thrift shop. We also participate in several other programs during the year, such as the Warm Coat drive, School Supply Drive, and Frozen Turkey donations. In the Spring we collect donations to fund and supply Senior Gift Baskets that will be delivered to neighborhood Seniors around Easter. Requested Food Pantry donations for June are condiments. Path to Shine. Mentoring a child is one of the most neighborly things St. David’s does. Every Wednesday from 2:30-5:00 p.m., our mentors meet with kids from our next-door neighbor, Mimosa Elementary. Together, we eat and play and read and learn and make things. Each child is matched one-on-one with the same mentor, so a real bond forms and real progress gets made. We’re always seeking new full-time mentors, substitute mentors, and snack providers. If you want an experience that’s fun as well as meaningful, please complete the form below and check "Path to Shine." We can always use more mentors. Volunteer today! Tool Box after school program at Mimosa Elementary. Do you like working with your hands and building skills? Volunteering at Mimosa Elementary’s Toolbox after school program is for you. Fifth graders learn basic woodworking skills: measuring, cutting, and assembling using basic tools. The students will build a small wooden toolbox (fall) and a birdhouse using cedar wood (spring). There is an instructor who guides the class through the simple projects. The volunteers mentor the kids and help them follow the steps correctly. St. David's Sponsored Activities LifeSouth Blood Drive. This ministry schedules several blood drives annually at the Church. Their mobile unit is parked conveniently in our parking lot for easy access and takes reservations throughout the day. St. David's Sponsored Boy Scout Troop #430. We are a charter organization that provides a full, year-round Scouting program for the youth of St. David’s and surrounding community. Our Vision is to offer a Scouting program appropriate to both the age and grade levels of our youth. For more information, please join us at our meetings or fill out the form below. Eyeglass donations. This ministry collects unwanted eye glasses for recycling. The box is located in the hallway near the mailboxes. The “Green Guild” is the environmental ministry of St. David’s. We promote Creation Care/Stewardship of Creation. This includes serving as liaison between our parish and Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL). We also coordinate with the Junior Warden on energy-efficiency projects throughout our campus. All are invited to join this ministry -- no experience required. Adopt-a-Road: Every 6-8 weeks a "crew" of people make sure that Old Roswell Road, from Warsaw to Holcomb Bridge Roads is free of litter. Six Mercies is offered Monday and Friday from 1:00- 3:00 p.m. We open our doors to those in our community that are in need of assistance. We interview each one, determine the need and try to bring hope to all that come. We have a team of 2 during each time period. We are flexible and will work with you on hours. We also need volunteers to stuff toiletry and snack kits. We are currently looking for more volunteers to fill all our time slots. Come serve – meet new volunteer friends and neighbors. Started in 2010, the St. Francis Guild provides a hot lunch to day-laborers in Roswell who are waiting for work. It is a soup kitchen on wheels, as the volunteer team cooks in Jeffords Hall kitchen and takes the meals to areas where the men are waiting for work. The team meets Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m. We welcome you to join us!

We embrace that tradition at St. David’s by offering music that has stood the test of time; we also champion the work of modern-day composers who prove that God continues to speak to musicians writing today. Our music selections are guided by the lectionary readings for the day, as well as the liturgical season. We encourage all who desire to make music to have the opportunity to share their gifts in worship. Through a variety of ensembles and worship times, we provide opportunities to participate for all ages and a variety of experience levels. The musical season is from September through May. Small groups and soloists provide special music through the summer months. Announcing New Organist and Choirmaster St. David’s has called a new Organist and Choirmaster to join our team. Mason Copeland is a talented choral conductor, organist, and educator, most recently serving at Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. He earned dual Master of Music degrees at Indiana University in Choral Conducting and Organ Performance. For seven years, he served as the Organist and Choirmaster for St. Paul’s – Newnan. Additionally, he has also served as Director of Choirs for Northview High School in Johns Creek since 2016. There he was named Teacher of the Year in 2023. While joining our staff team, he will remain on staff at Northview. In his own words: “I recently moved to Cumming with my wife, Michelle, our dog, Rosa, and my 7-year-old son, Chip. Michelle and I are both advanced open water scuba divers and try to go diving as often as we can! I also love to fish and take on renovation projects around the house. I’m looking forward to getting to know the St. David’s community and making music together in worship!” Mason will join the staff the week of August 18. Please join me in welcoming him. Each member is responsible for and serve as liaisons for the different areas of parish life. Vestry meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month in the Hope Classroom (downstairs Jeffords Hall), at 6:30 p.m. Parish members are welcome to attend any vestry meeting. St. David's music and choir program is powered by talented people and outstanding direction. The Children's Community Choir provides an outstanding opportunity to grow and showcase young voices. St. David's Children's Community Choir Welcome! Registration for the Spring 2024 Musical, "A Technicolor Promise" is now open!   About Us! We are a non-auditioned choir for children in 3rd through 8th grades. Our purpose : to provide children in Roswell and surrounding communities with an excellent and enriching experience in choral singing. To develop each singer’s skills and artistry as a musician, vocalist, and performer. To unite and mentor children into responsible, creative, and confident leaders and team players through choral performance and music education. We are committed to inclusivity and diversity and to creating an atmosphere where each singer is valued, respected, accepted, and loved. Singing serves as an important way to communicate, to connect with others, and to express emotion.  We were born singing. Children love to sing and dance and hum and makeup songs. And it’s innate and universal in all children. The music we perform is varied in style, culture, language, and time periods. There is a fall concert that includes holiday music and a spring musical. Two rehearsals will be offered each week; please attend at least ONE:  Wednesday 6:00-7:15 p.m. OR Thursday 6:00-7:15 p.m.  In addition, individual make-up lessons can be arranged as needed. Please escort your child into each rehearsal. (There will NOT be a carpool line.) At the end of rehearsal, please come inside to check your child out. No child will be allowed to leave the property unescorted. If your child feels ill or has a fever, please do NOT bring them to rehearsal. Individual make-up lessons can be arranged if desired. Individual music binders and pencils will be provided. We will not share music or pencils. Each singer is expected to bring their own water bottle. What to bring/wear: WATER BOTTLE! Stained Glass Windows Part 1 - The Round Windows The following is an excerpt from the book, "The Windows of St. David's" , that was produced as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of St. David's in 2006. Researched and written by Bruce Thomas. Photography and production by Linda Thomas. Bruce and Linda are both long-time members of St. David's. The Rose Window - "The Twelve Apostles" Location: Above the Altar The 12 shields incorporate symbols that call to mind each of the disciples. Beginning at the 12:30 position with the keys of St. Peter and proceeding clockwise, we encounter the symbols of all 11 disciples mentioned in Acts 1:13 who, after returning from experiencing Jesus’ ascension from the Mount of Olives, went back to their meeting room in Jerusalem: “Those present were Peter, James, John and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.”(Not to be confused with Judas Iscariot.) Sometimes this son of James is known as Jude, and he’s called Thaddeus by other gospel writers. At the 11:30 position the twelfth symbol is for the replacement disciple Matthias, whose election (to take the place of Judas Iscariot) is recorded at the end of the first chapter of Acts. These twelve disciples were called by Jesus to “bear much fruit,” and nearly all of them suffered and died as a result of doing so. “I am the true vine,” Jesus said. And in the stained glass of the rose window, the vine originates from the center of the window, where the Lamb of God (“Agnus Dei”) lies with the Banner of Victory, a powerful symbol of Jesus. In the 5th chapter of the Book of Revelation, the Lamb is called “worthy to receive power, wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessings,” and “able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” "The Jesse Tree" Location: High Above, Left Side of the Nave High up on the left wall of the nave is the small round stained glass window that represents one such Jesse Tree. It reminds us of twelve persons of the Bible (in addition to Jesse) who in various ways heralded the coming of Messiah – the Christ – the Anointed One. In the center of the window is a gnarled tree, “the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit” (Isaiah 11:1). Using the grapevine theme that’s seen in the large rose window above the altar, grape leaves and clusters of grapes stretch out to the twelve sections of the window, encircling the symbols of the persons chosen for this particular Jesse Tree. Starting at the top, and going clockwise, the first is the symbol for Moses: the miraculous water of Meribah. Ruth, whose story is told in the book of the Bible bearing her name, was a faithful widow-woman of Moab who accompanied her widowed mother-in-law back to Israel (saying to Naomi, “your people will be my people, and your God my God”). There Ruth remarried and became the grandmother of Jesse. Her symbol is the sheaf of wheat, for she collected the grain left behind by the harvesters in the fields near Bethlehem. Samuel, the last of the judges of Israel (hence the scales of justice as his symbol) anointed David, the son of Jesse, to succeed Saul as king. David is represented by the five smooth stones and the slingshot he used to slay Goliath. It would be to Bethlehem that Joseph later took his expectant wife Mary, “because he belonged to the house and line of David.” Each of the seven Old Testament prophets listed in the stained glass of the window proclaimed the need for, and the coming of, Messiah. Elijah (who, along with Moses, is depicted in the Transfiguration window with Jesus) is symbolized with the flaming chariot in which he was transported to heaven (2 Kings 2:11). Isaiah’s symbol derives from his vision of his mouth being purified by the seraph carrying a live coal with tongs (Isaiah 6:6-7). Jeremiah is represented by three stones that figure in his prophecy of how a disobedient Israel would be made captive of Babylon; legend says his people stoned him to death for his stern pronouncements. Later the prophet Ezekiel spoke of the east gate of the city of Jerusalem being the one through which Messiah would enter the city (Ezekiel 44:1-3). The prophets Hosea, Amos, and Micah prophesied in the 8th century before Jesus’ birth that the behavior of the people of Israel and Judah would lead to destruction and captivity and the need for Messiah. Hosea likened Israel to an unfaithful wife, and he is symbolized by a bridegroom’s white cloak, reminding us of the image of Christ as the Bridegroom. Amos was a shepherd, and the symbol of the shepherd’s crock reminds us of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. Micah predicted that the Redeemer would be born in Bethlehem, where “… the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established … and peoples will stream to it.” Capping these Old Testament prophecies of Messiah, the words of John the Baptist conclude the twelve sections of the Jesse Tree window. Displayed hanging on a cross, they proclaim in Latin: “Behold the Lamb of God.” There is one more symbol in this window to share with you. A very small basketball is discreetly inserted near the edge at about the 5 o’clock position, in the segment devoted to the Prophet Elijah. The window was given in memory of a young man who loved playing basketball. Hardly visible from anywhere on the main level of the nave, the basketball can best be seen by those seated in the gallery. The young man’s parents sat there as faithful members of the choir. "The Twelve Tribes of Israel" Location: High Above, Right Side of the Nave In the same style as the other two round windows, this window has 12 sections, each listing the name of one of Jacob’s twelve sons. Except for Levi, the symbols depicted for each tribe derive from Jacob’s words recorded in chapter 49 of the Book of Genesis. (The incense pot shown for Levi alludes to that tribe’s later role as the keeper of Hebrew law.) Instead of a grapevine entwined around the twelve symbols, as in the other two round windows, a vine with blossoms looking like tassels binds the tribes to the Ten Commandments, perhaps a reference to Numbers 15:37-38, assuring that every aspect of the window is grounded in the words of Torah. A selection of Christian books for children and adults picked by the staff at St. David's. Books and Bibles Children's Bibles and Devotions (Plus Other Awesome Reading!) Quiet time for a child and quiet time for the family is often centered around a simple shared story. Sometimes that story comes from you, from your own memories and childhood, spoken aloud to your child as they nestle in the crook of your arm. Sometimes the story comes from a trusted book, where language and illustrations capture your child’s heart and imagination. To be present with a child fully absorbed in at engaging story especially a story of love, faith, and family life is to share a sacred moment. Sharing quiet times for reading creates a family ritual and connections. Quiet time in your home may be just before bed time (that interval after the not quiet time of homework and bath and before sleep.) The St. David's Choir The aim of the St. David’s Choir is to glorify the Lord by bringing His word to others in song. We believe that in turn, He will use gifts of music as a means to strengthen, enrich, inspire and encourage His people. “Called” has a special meaning to each member of the St. David’s Choir. We believe that each member of the choir participates because they have answered a call to excellence in music for the Glory of God and the worship of the parish; they embrace singing music that lifts spirits and inspires peace in hearts. We believe each person in the pew is part of our church’s “great choir” and encourage all who have a song in their heart to participate fully in worship. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., from September through mid-May. (Solos, ensembles and instrumentalists provide music during summer months.) This choir sings at the 11:15 a.m. service on Sunday mornings, and at special Festival services and holidays. Evensongs are sung in the fall and during Advent and Lent. Discipleship Groups St. David's has several discipleship building organizations; Education for Minsitry, Daughters of the King, and Brotherhood of St. Andrew. These three programs ask for a long term committment and are dedicated to growing disciples dedicated to prayer, spreading the gospel, and service. Education for Ministry Mondays Beginning in September 6:00 p.m. Bethany Room EfM is an adult, Christian, distance learning education program of the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. This four-year program is a dynamic blend of Bible study, church history, theology, worship, prayer, and theological reflection. There are openings for two first-year students this Fall. Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2025: “Magnified! Discovering the bigness of God in the smallest of things!” June 16-20, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. What an incredible week we've had at St. David’s! Children, youth volunteers, and adults joined together to gain a deeper understanding of God’s love through participating in our annual Vacation Bible School (VBS). Our VBS theme invited us to look closely and discover how God reveals His greatness in the tiniest moments—and that’s exactly what we did. VBS 2025 was packed with energy, laughter, worship, and so many unforgettable moments. We’re so thankful for every child who came, every parent who brought them, and every incredible volunteer who made it happen. God moved in powerful and joyful ways all week long—and we’re already counting down to next year! To all our amazing volunteers, thank you for your dedication, love, and servant hearts.
